While an evaluation how democracy faces elsewhere is still to come in this course, it might be appropriate to examine how it works here. I will propose, as the devil''s advocate, that most of what the author says happens in a democracy is frequenly under attack; that participatory democracy is only open to those who can afford it; that pluralist democracy is often undermined by powers seeking to disenfranchise seqments of the population; that developmental democracy is a sham given the fact few people make informed choices when casting their ballot; that government at times appears tyrannical and oppresive towards people lets use immigrants and gun owners as possible witness against protective democracy and that power performance democracy,which says htat laws are a reflection of self goverig peoples desire for well being works only for those people whose party is in power.
Before we can make democracy look attractive elsewhere, don't we have to make it look good here? Let me propose the following for a better democracy and you tell me how or eve if its logical or possible.
1. term limits and strict cielings on campaign contributions
2. same day registration/voting AKA make vote registration and even boting easier
3. shorten the campaigns but require more debate and fewer negative ads.
