For this particular essay, each student must pick a topic, choose a side within that topic, and argue their case/thesis effectively using scholarly sources. The purpose is to persuade the audience that each individual case/thesis is correct. Quite simply, in order to do this effectively, each student must give the background of all arguments (What/Who) presented and then, using scholarly evidence, prove the argument (How/Why). The topics are:
