Problem
Media analysis refers to examining the various types of media and evaluates how certain messages are portrayed and how public or audience perceives them?
Media plays a vital role in disseminating information. Therefore, it is impossible to deny its significance in shaping and functioning of any society. Media analysis enables us to:
Identify the critical issues being presented,
Examines how a story or message is framed, and
Looks critically at the coverage of an issue
A typical media analysis aims to assess how media has framed the public discussion of a particular piece of news or issue (was the issue represented well, were key aspects of the discussion missing, why was it presented in that way?)
How the main advocates, policy makers, police, lawyers and other experts have discussed the specific issue?
Which related topics are being covered and which have been ignored?
Which messages are being used and why? Whose perspective is used in the framing of the issue?
