In Drosophila, ruby eye color (rb) results from a recessive allele in the X chromosome, and dumpy wings (dp) results from a recessive allele in chromosome 2. Among the progeny of flies exposed to x-rays, a phenotypically normal male carrying a reciprocal translocation between the X chromosome and chromosome 2 was obtained.
The genetic and chromosomal constitution of this male is shown in the accompanying illustration.
Which phenotypes and which relative frequencies would be expected among the progeny from the mating of this male to a female with ruby eyes and dumpy wings? (Recall that there is no crossing over in Drosophila males.)
