Problem
The early Puritan settlers considered themselves as a beacon of light and hope for the rest of the world. They believed that they could live their lives in community in a way that would be an example for people everywhere.
After carefully studying John Winthrop's vision of the "City Upon a Hill," respond to each of the following questions thoroughly, thoughtfully, and respectfully:
• Which parts of Winthrop's advice do you think would be the most effective in building a strong community? Why? Be specific.
• Does America still consider itself a model for the rest of the world? Why or why not? Make sure you provide specific evidence of current events to support your position, and be respectful.
