You are given a drug in the form of a topical cream XOP. The instructions specifically said, "this drug should be administered by applying to the skin only". The drug will then penetrate through the epidermis of the skin to the blood vessels in the dermis. Use your knowledge of cell membrane, membrane transport and the skin to explain the following questions:
1. What are two characteristics of topical drug , and the skin, that would allow drug XOP to pass easily through the skin? List them and indicate which is which.
2. Explain, specifically, which membrane transport process was used in the above scenario? You must include in your answer:
(a) reason(s) for your choice of transport process.
(b) one example of popular substance that we apply to the skin that relied on the same process as described by you. The examples you give can be drugs or any other generic substance

Bone and teeth are the hardest and most enduring human tissue. This unique property, has allowed them to provide information and clues that would that would otherwise have alluded us.
