Problem
A 14-year-old Asian male presents to the clinic for evaluation. He usually comes to the clinic with his mother but insisted on coming alone this time. He reports low mood, anorexia, and anhedonia. He expressed these symptoms to his mother repeatedly, who asks him to "pray" and not worry about it. Further evaluation is strongly suggestive of major depressive disorder. He denies suicidal or homicidal ideation. The patient requests not to inform the mother about his treatment. His mother is also a patient at the same clinic. Which is the next most appropriate course of action.
