Problem
Ecosystems are fragile equilibriums, and man-made changes to solve a problem often creates more problems down the line. Levees for the Mississippi river were put in place to prevent flooding in local communities, but by doing so, sediments in the Delta were not being replenished, and the ocean started to invade dryland areas. A solution for that is to create "diversions", which helps to bring back sediments and reconstitute the ecosystem. Unfortunately, diversions also bring freshwater, which has a decimating effect on the local shrimp industry. It seems that no matter what it is done it ends up having an adverse effect somewhere, and one is left with only hard choices. I want you to a) co, b) give me your "hard choice": what would you do?
