Problem: Anthropology Religious and Cult
Though very different in many respects, the Church of Satan and the Church of Scientology tend to share a fascination with the individual "Self" as a focus of religious attention. Which do you feel offers the most in-depth exploration of the Self, and why? Does this shared interest in the Self reflect a distrust of mainstream social and/or religious institutions? If so, which ones and why? Illustrate your answer with examples from the readings.
