Whether the federal government should enforce a federal law

Assignment task:

In Chapter 1 you encountered the problem that plagues the State of Colorado - the state law legalizing recreational marijuana contrary to the federal Controlled Substance Act.

Start with the US Supreme Court's holding in Gonzalez v Raich and explain the Court's holding and every action by the federal government after.

End with a stand on whether the federal government should enforce a federal law that contradicts with a state's law.  Use the legalization of medicinal and recreational marijuana as an example. Give a position on this controversy.  Do not give a moral position but rather give a legal position.  Use the arguments made by the US Supreme Court, the Obama Administration, the Trump Administration or any other court case.
