Instead of spending time nurturing these meaningful connections, someone who is addicted to social media spends countless hours engaging with others they will never even meet in real life. Furthermore, it is hard to spend meaningful time with someone you care about when you busy scrolling through your Instagram or tweeting to complete strangers. Finally, since much of social media revolves around trying to amass followers, it is detrimental to building strong relationships.
