1. What are the different ways in which a playwright might convey a theme? Think about the theme you want to convey in your play, and keep it in mind as you write.
2. Decide who the characters for your scene will be. Write brief outlines for each character, as described on p. 218 of your text.
3. Where will your scene take place? How will the setting serve the plot and theme of your scene?
4. How will you create the tone and mood of your scene?
