Question: RESEARCHING DIFFERENT CAREERS
When applying for a job, whether mailing or faxing in your résumé, you should always include a letter of application, or a cover letter, as it is often called. A well-prepared cover letter should convince the prospective employer to read your résumé and to phone you for an interview. The letter should describe the job you want and your qualifications for the job. It also should let the firm know where you can be reached to set up an appointment for an interview.
Assignment: 1. Prepare a letter of application to use with the résumé you prepared in Chapter (An example appears in Appendix A online.)
2. After having several friends review your letter, edit it carefully.
3. Ask your instructor to comment on your letter.
