When a small drop of oil is placed on the surface of a quiet pond, the oil spreads into a large spot (or oil slick). If we assume that the molecules of oil spread out so they are 1 molecule thick, we can determine the length of an oil molecule. This is the same as our lab experiment #2. If 78 drops are equal to 1 mL of pure oil, and one drop spreads out into a circle of diameter 187.2 centimeters, (we did not dilute it with alcohol) determine the length of the oil molecule. Answer in Angstroms please. 1 Angstrom is equal to 1 x 10^-8 cm.
