Based on what you have learned on nutrient cycling in lakes design a treatment wetland system for simultaneous nitrogen and phosphorus removal. Assume the wastewater being treated is highly organic with a high N and P content. You should use a series of cells with different physical/chemical properties. Which chemical/biological/physical processes will be most important for removing N and P (give separate answers for each)? Which nutrient do you think you will be most successful at removing?
