What you as a business owner might provide to your employees

Problem

When a small business owner or entrepreneur manages or creates a business, many times the small business person/leader is lost in the operating or financing the company. What is often lost are the little things that make a difference for those people who work in the company. Depending on where you have worked, this may be things such a summer barbecue, maybe a company night at the local major or minor baseball game, or a holiday party near the end of the year. There can be intangibles too, as you look at the next paragraph. Here, I would like you to have an open mind even though you may have already had positive or negative experiences with these two companies.

There are two sources of enchantment I would like you to look at as part of this discussion module. First, view the video on Google, Inc. Here, we see what Google does to attract and retain its employees: Life at Google [8 mins]

Second, take a look at the Facebook Careers website. There, we can see what Facebook means to its employees and we can view some testimonials.

Use these two sources to consider what you as a small business owner might provide to your employees to show appreciation.
