A. Discuss data security or data privacy in terms of an area of interest, such as FERPA, HIPAA, or the Payment Card Industry efforts to protect your data.
a. Do you find the U.S. efforts to articulate data privacy and security have been effective and balanced? Why or why not?
b. If it has not been effective, what would you suggest to improve your chosen topic area, e.g., the Payment Card Industry (PCI) efforts to ensure your secure commercial payment transactions?
c. State which ethical theory, of the primary theories (Kantianism, Utilitarianism, Social Contract, or Virtue Ethics), guides your approach and why.
B. Write a 2 pages paper. Provide three examples from the readings or an online search where information collected by a government for one purpose has been used for an entirely different purpose. Comment on whether there is merit to this information transition from the original purpose to the new purpose, such as the COVID pandemic of 2020, by using one of the ethical concepts we have discussed. Finally, use one of the focus ethical theories to justify your position above in the information transition.
