"Your friend is being chased by a murderer and is hiding in your home. The murderer comes to your door, tells you of their intentions to cause harm, and then asks if your friend is in your home."

B. Kant argues that we must each author our own moral code. Why must we be the authors of our moral codes? Why can we not learn about morality from someone else?
