It is often believed that "sports are reflections of our society." While this statement is accepted as true, some would also argue that sports are much more than mere reflections of society. Sports are social practices that actively influence what people do and how social worlds are organized. For example, sports in the U.S. can perpetuate narrow and limited views of topics such as race and skin color. Likewise, sports also provide contexts for people to challenge and change such beliefs-think Jackie Robinson and Major League Baseball.
The study of sports in society allows us to think critically about sports and to work with others to make sports what we want them to be in our lives. With this in mind, and based on your sports interests and career goals, answer the following question: If you could change one thing about sports in your school or community, what would it be?
The response must include a reference list. Using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, double-space, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
