According to Buss (1995), most men tend to prefer women who are younger due to their innate drive to reproduce. On the other hand, women have historically chosen males that are older than them for financial security and status. However, a new term has emerged for women who choose to date younger men. They are often called "Cougars." Why is it deemed acceptable for a man to choose a younger woman, but women are often frowned upon if they select younger men? Does our society have a double standard? What would an evolutionary psychologist say about this new trend?
