o Chapter 9: Closing the Project
Read the following scenario:
You have been assigned to manage a project that has been in progress for a few months. The original project manager has now left the organization.
After taking a look at the project budget and utilizing the Earned Value Management metrics, you've determined that the project is behind schedule and will have a cost overrun at completion. The previous project manager never reported the project delays or expected cost overruns, so this bad news will be a surprise to the project sponsors and stakeholders.
This is a high-profile project and you are excited to have an opportunity to show off your newly acquired project management skills. However, this project is currently on a losing trajectory!
Now, respond to the following questions:
. What will be your next steps in order to re-route the project for success?
. What do you think will be your challenges and risks?
. How would your strategy change if you had strong reasons to believe that this news would cause the project sponsors to terminate the project?
