In a thorough essay using your own words describe what life was like in a textile mill village (include the website, Like A Family). Include how this was also a form of labor control by the mill owners and the role of paternalism.
For instance, what was life like in the mill village? How was the community structured? What kinds of institutions (church, school, stores) were there and how did they operate to the owner's advantage as a type of labor control? What were the houses like to live in for the workers? How did some workers seek to resist total control by the owners over their homes and communal lives?
