Before watching Pan's Labyrinth, we need context. This first set of research is to create that context. It will also be useful for the research paper later on in the process.
The Questions (choose two)
1) What was the Spanish Civil War fought about? Which side won?
2) At the end of the Spanish Civil War, how did Franco deal with the remaining resistance to his fascist regime?
3) Guillermo del Toro is a renowned fabulist film maker. What is fabulist film?
4) Who painted Guernica? What is the story of the painting and why it was painted?
5) In literature, mythology, and religion - what do labyrinths symbolize?
The Task For each of the two questions, find a quality source to answer the question. (You may need more than one source to answer adequately. If you use more than one, present the information separately for each one, using the format exemplified below.) You will report the answer but not give opinions about it. (It is research, not response right now.)
Paste the links to the sources, and under each one describe the source and its credentials (where the information is from and why it is a quality source). Below that, in a paragraph briefly and usefully describe the answer that is found in the source. As this is research as preparation (not research appearing in an essay), you do not have to cite the info - these are notes about the information. The format makes that clear.
