Homework: Gemba Walk
Instructions
Complete a Gemba Walk of Hendrick Medical Center (as so called Hendrick Health) in Abilene, TX and document your observations. Refer to the SWOT analysis you conducted in Week Three to select the areas in need of improvement and narrow the list of places to conduct your Gemba Walk. While completing your walk, look for ways to eliminate inefficiencies, reduce waste, improve a product, or streamline a process.
Write a 2 to 3 pages report on your observations of your Gemba. Include the following in your report:
I. Include a summary of the organization (e.g., products or services, mission and vision)
II. Provide context (where did you focus your Gemba on and why?)
III. Gemba observations
IV. What was the goal of your Gemba?
V. Where did you go?
VI. What did you observe?
VII. Who did you observe?
VIII. Give a preliminary analysis of your observations.
IX. List key takeaways.
X. List three short-term opportunities and one long-term opportunity to eliminate inefficiencies, reduce waste, improve a product, or streamline a process.
Format your homework according to the give formatting requirements:
• The answer must be using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, typed, with one-inch margins on all sides.
• The response also includes a cover page containing the student's name, the title of the homework, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
• Also include a reference page. The references and Citations should follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
