Problem
Respiratory System: Driving force for speech via positive air pressure beneath the vocal folds (breath support).
Laryngeal System: Vocal folds vibrate at high speeds to cause phonation (sound).
Articulatory/Resonating System: - An acoustic filter that allows certain frequencies to pass through, while blocking others. This is where the sound resonates and is shaped by the articulators. What to do: Discuss a time when one of your physiological speech subsystems or the speech subsystem of someone you are close to was affected.
a) What was the cause?
b) How did it affect their communication?
c) How did it make you/them feel as the communicator and the communication partner?
