Problem
Fill your tub about two inches of water. Use your marbles to create a wave. I would just drop the marble into the water and see what happens.
1. A wave transmits energy. Where does the energy come from in this case?
2. What type of wave is created when you dropped your marble into the water? How do you know it's this type of wave? (Possible words to use include transverse, longitudinal, mechanical, electromagnetic).
3. How can you cause your wave to reflect in the tub? (Think about how to have the wave bouncing off of the side of the container.) Describe or draw how the wave reflects and what it reflects off in your tub.
4. Create interference in your tank. Try out dropping two marbles into the water at the same time and notice what happens. Draw or write what happens when the two waves meet. Then, describe how this shows interference.
