The past decade has seen a rise in the level of both gun violence and racially motivated violence in the United States. According to data compiled by the "Gun Violence Archive", there have been at least 607 reported mass shootings (at least four people excluding the shooter) through November 22nd of this year. This is just short of the 638 mass shootings which occured during the same time in 2021. These numbers are an unspeakable tragedy and a frightening commentary on American society. Discuss, in detail, using specific examples from both "The Dark Knight" (2008) and "Black Panther" (2018), how and why the role of film heroes has changed in ten short years because of the increasing levels of violence in society.
