Problem: The patient is a 38-year-old female who gave birth 10 weeks ago. This past week, she developed abdominal pain and symptoms of a urinary tract infection (UTI) and was admitted to the hospital. She was found to have a left ureteral stone and small bilateral renal stones, as well as bilateral hydronephrosis and UTI. It was recommended that the left ureter be dilated and stunted because of the hydronephrosis and the infection. Once the infection has been adequately treated. She will undergo ESWL of the ureteral stone at a later date.
