I'm having trouble describing what the West Germans want regarding the Berlin Wall. Why do I think West Germans and East Germans were surprised by events in the Fall of 1989? What can I infer about the East German (communist) economy by looking at the cars they are driving over the border into the West? Finally, how do I think other European nations felt about the reunification of Germany into a large and economically powerful nation?
