What the united states should do with iran

Assignment task:

Imagine you are advising President Biden. In one original reply simply describe your policy preference of what the United States should do with Iran. It is a broad topic-- and it ranges from the Houthi in Yemen to the stalled renegotiation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

Be careful to note the short-term tradeoffs and long-term consequences that your proposed policies could end up having to deal with (e.g. nuclear proliferation, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, Syria, Ukraine/Russia, terrorism, etc.) The key, and how this relates to theory,  is realizing that you cannot have it all-- so what is the most important policy outcome you prefer?

Also, here is a challenge-- Iran is a complex place with many moving parts. It is not a monolithic nation. So on one hand, you have reformers and liberals-- those who want to liberalize the regime. They negotiated and supported the JCPOA. The treaty was signed by a moderate President in the hopes that it would help alleviate the sanctions regime and revive the Iranian economy-- and thus the reformers and liberals would benefit at the ballot box (because they do have elections). The hardliners and conservatives, the ones who may believe the "Death to America" chants hated the agreement and stated that the U.S. would just break it anyway. Which...

After the collapse of the JCPOA, the hardliners made sure a hardliner/conservative became the new President.

You now have waves of protests against the regime. So don't forget the Iranian people.

Then in your replies to your classmates, try to add on or politely disagree with them.
