What the reader learns through the depiction

Problem

Mark and annotate the Equiano text according to the directions in the video. This video is today's lesson, so please watch it in its' entirety.

a) Complete a close read of the excerpt by identifying evidence of the first-person narrator. This includes details where the narrator shares thoughts, feelings, and sensations. Highlight these details in green.

b) Now that you have identified first-person point-of-view details, return to the places that you have identified and annotate (write) the samples for imagery, sensory language, mood, and tone. Explain what image is being created, what sensory experience is being recreated for the reader and what the reader learns through the depiction, the tone that the sample creates, and the mood being created for the reader. For example, "Tone: determination".

c) Find 5 examples to analyze. These examples should not be the examples that I modeled for you while in class.
