What does this statement mean and why is diversity and ethnicity undervalued, positioned as deficit or difficult, and rendered invisible? Drawing on ethnicity, how might this attitude to diversity contribute to inequities in the access and outcomes of marginalised students? Include in your explanation appropriate theoretical concepts that help us to understand these inequities. What do teachers and schools need to do to promote greater equity in this area?
