Problem
Think of a person in your personal or work life who isn't a good listener. If applicable, this person could be you. Describe this person's poor listening behavior and give an example that shows this person's poor listening skills.
• What are some barriers to effective listening that you know are a factor for this person? These barriers can include physical and mental distractions, biases and prejudices, lack of appropriate focus, and premature judgment.
• What suggestions would you make to help him or her listen more effectively?
• Can we improve our listening -- is it something that can be learned rather than a trait we are born with.
