For this module, there is only one option. You are to begin to develop your diversity consciousness by identifying a current event in the news pertaining to social inequality in terms social class, gender, or racial ethnicity. You are to provide the link to this news article and analyze the report including in your discussion the following:
1) What social inequality is being demonstrated in this current even? Describe it
2) What relationship is going on between the "majority" and "minority group." Define who is the majority and who is the minority. Describe why you have identified the group as minority and majority.
3) Who is being marginalized in this event? How? Why do you believe they are being marginalized?
4) Is any group being "blamed" in this event? Is this "blame" at the individual level or the societal level - or both?
5) Who has the power in this situation? What is that power?
6) Who has the privilege in this situation? What is that privilege?
7) What suggestions do you have that would assist in addressing this social inequality?
8) What did you learn? (How did this develop your diversity consciousness?)
