Problem
Nurses from a large hospital are planning a health fair for their community. They hope to share information about health and wellness as well as provide routine screenings. Speakers will discuss disease prevention topics such as tobacco cessation, substance abuse prevention, obesity, and immunizations; as well as provide information on common disease states such as hypertension, cancer, and diabetes. The community is diverse and includes many members who do not have health insurance and/or lack the means of attaining healthcare.
A. What is the WHO (World Health Organization) definition of health and how does this relate to health and wellness promotion in a community setting?
B. What other places might these individuals be directed for information about their health and wellness?
C. What other specific lifestyle and risk factors might thenurses address to meet the needs of this community?
