What specific independent and dependent variables will you

Why are southern who live in the southern states like Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia have higher obesity rates compared to other state in different region. Is it because of lack of education for health diets or, does it has to deal with the culture and in environment they reside in? Majority of the population who are overweight live in urban areas where there are predominantly lower income families homes (Obesity Epidemic).

In this week's individual assignment, we consider the method section of our research proposal.

This week, we focus on our sample of participants and what we'll ask them to do, as well as what specific data we'll collect and how we will collect it.

It can be helpful to read the Method sections of some of the empirical articles you've read for class to give you an idea of what this might look like.

Research Study Proposal : Methodology Outline Instructions:

Based on what you have learned in doing your prior Proposal assignments, Select the population, sample size, and data collection methods appropriate for your problem statement and research question.

Provide your research question. The research question needs to use a structure that clearly and specifically defines the population and the measurable variables, in either a descriptive, relational or causal way (see Meadows, 2003, materials/discussion in Week 2; reference below). Use feedback from Week 4 to revise your research question as necessary.

Develop an outline describing the quantitative methodology for a study that is designed to answer this research question.

The outline should address each of the following:

Your identified target population;

Your specific sample of participants:

What/who will comprise your sample(s)?

Where will you find them?

How large will your sample(s) be?

What is your rationale for these decisions?

Method for getting the data from the sample:

How will you recruit the subjects?

What general process will you use to collect the data? (e.g., Where will you collect it? Who will collect it? etc.

What is the process you and the participant will go through so you can get the data, in other words?)

What specific independent and dependent variables will you be studying, and how specifically will you measure those variables?

What comparison groups will you have, if any?

What instruments or measurements will you use to get the data?

How did you decide on these particular groups, instruments or measurements?

Ethical Considerations and Steps for your proposed study, based on our prior weeks' materials

This needs to be an OUTLINE. I don't want long sentences and paragraphs with roman numerals in front of them. Outlines are numbered/lettered BULLETS using several levels to show detail; they are not sentences/paragraphs. I will not grade anything other than an actual outline.

Use more outline levels to give more details; don't use paragraphs and sentences for details.

Include the rationales for the various methods and decisions you are using/making, throughout.

Provide citations/references as appropriate to support your ideas, rationales and decisions.
