What something about the post that resonates the most

Assignment task:

My character is Sara. In this setting, people who do not appear to have trouble such as mental or physical health problems are culled to help create the perfect human race.

1. Sara's abnormal behavior is depression. She often will have continuous moods of sadness and irritability as her main symptoms.

2. Historical perspectives: In medieval societies, people who suffered from mental disorders such as depression were often seen as living a life of sin, and they needed to repent to be healed. Because of this mindset, Sara might be considered a witch and killed. Even in modern times, depression is often seen as a weakness but as we make advances it is being understood as more complex often resulting from trauma and chemical imbalance.

3. The 4 D's: Sara's behaviors deviate away from societal norms. This leads to more anxiety and fear at the possibility of being found as not perfect. This kind of anxiety leads to a high amount of distress in Sara's daily life. Dysfunction can be found in Sara's routine when she can't concentrate on daily tasks due to her overwhelming sense of sadness resulting in a lack of energy and drive to complete even simple tasks. Sara poses a risk of danger to herself her mood is low enough to consider ending her life or being seen as less than perfect by society.

4. Factors of the biopsychosocial approach could play into some of Sara's behaviors. Social factors like family, support from peers as well as psychological factors like coping skills or perceptions could play into how well she can handle and overcome episodes of extreme lows. Biology might play the biggest factor as it could be genetic, as well as her emotions playing into her ability to regulate moods.

Seeking medical help: In Sara's case, it would be beneficial to seek help if it can be done so safely in this fictional world. Since depression can often have extremely low lows that could lead to suicidal thoughts it would be best to seek help.
