What role do you believe managers play in a pay-for-performance environment?
Think about everything we have discussed and what you read with regard to the partnership. Managers and HR share the responsibility of human capital. However, managers are on the ground every day. Managers are responsible for the performance conversation and setting that pace by communicating expectations and providing ongoing feedback. The managers' focus should be on quality dialogue with the employee. Managers should also understand and be able to message any pay components as it relates to performance ratings.
