Problem
This question deals primarily with residential and commercial recycling efforts in America. What is the current status, in general and from an overall perspective, of how well we are recycling our "everyday" discarded items, e.g., household waste, consumer electronics, etc., (ignore toxic and industrial waste)? What role does economics play in recycling? What is the current situation with respect to supply and demand for recycled materials, for example, Walmart's efforts? Should recycling be made mandatory, or be voluntary...and why?
