Problem
FedEx and UPS's shared opposition to DHL's acquisition of Airborne Express which is expressed by their request of the Department of Transportation to examine DHL's ownership structure is a form of the private antitrust suit market signal. On a basic level both firms are expressing their displeasure towards the actions of the challenging competitor, but on a strategic level their request for the DOT to not only examine but re-examine the ownership structure is a form of harassment and or a delaying tactic. In fact FedEx and UPS's efforts have been effective to the point that the DOT's decision was still pending at the time this case was written. What reply would you give to this?
