The case mainly addresses the development of a community center-The Lucy Prince Community Center, which aims to improve the well-being of its clients from different minority groups through multiple ways. However, considering the intertwined dynamics of leadership change and local context, one of the key questions is whether it is necessary to maintain having a Black leader according to the request of local control from the Black community. Please imagine that you are a manager of the Department of Strategical Development who directly reports to the Board. Today (1970), you are asked to provide your professional opinion regarding whether race should be considered as a factor to recruit the next "President of the Board" or "the Executive Director".
Think about the following issues: (i) What are those pros and cons to have a leader based on the consideration of race (although they are qualified to be appointed)? (ii) How should the Board respond to local community's request of control? (iii) How should the Board react to the changing dynamics/demographics of its clients and stakeholders?
