Overview:
Many models have been built to help shape strategy for businesses, which includes both decision making and collaboration. Porter's Five Forces model, created by Michael Porter, is an example of a model that many businesses follow when strategizing. For this homework, you will be creating a Porter's Five Forces model of eBay and analyzing your findings.
Instructions:
1. Research and create a Porter's Five Forces model of eBay. This can be done in Word, Excel or PowerPoint.
2. In a paper, report and analyze your findings. Include answers to the following questions:
a. What does your Five Forces analysis reveal about the nature and strength of the various competitive pressures eBay faces?
b. Are the competitive pressures facing eBay and other online auction companies conducive to earning good profits? Why or why not?
c. What problems and issues do eBay's top managers need to address? Which problems and issues should be top priorities?
d. What do you see as the key success factors for organizations in the online auction industry?
3. Explain how your research into the Five Forces model effected your views of business strategy as it pertains to collaboration and decision making.
