Assignment Problem: Dollars Change Perception
You are in a meeting to talk about a potential change request for your project. A significant requirement needs to be added because of new regulatory measures that will be in place in six months. The regulatory measures are expansive. After ten minutes of discussions, there were five options with a lot of unknowns. Everyone then eye balled the costs for each option.
Option 1 - Update data and add flag to review process - $1 million
Option 2 - Update training to use system differently - $2 million
Option 3 - New technology with retraining - $4 million
Option 4 - Add manual process - $1 million
Option 5 - Jerry rig a quick software solution to add a flag to review - $10K
