What must we do to inform parents better about summer slide

Problem

Activities are great, but providing these alone may not do the job. In my experience--especially in working in Title I schools is that parents work a lot, so even if activities are free they may not have the time to take their kids to do those activities.

What must we do to inform the parents better about 'summer slide' or the regression that happens over the summer when they have not been engaged in learning? When should this happen? What alternatives (like having aunts, uncles, etc taking their child to these experiences) or incentives could we offer to parents so the summer activities still get accomplished? How can we make this informational meeting informative and worth their valuable time so it will have the effect we want? Explain.
