Here are some of the areas where Heather could have mitigated the issues surrounding Mylan. As mentioned in the above referenced case study, improvements were made following the introduction of the savings card, which essentially offered discounts to consumers. In essence, the "My epiPen savings card" would offer $100 for every two-pack of EpiPens carton filled. In reality, making these savings plans stronger during the outbreak would have only raised more concerns. At the time, the impact would have been less controversial because only those who are commercially insured would be able to take advantage of it. Insurers would have paid the high price themselves, but would have had to pay higher insurance premiums as a result. This program is also illegal when implemented into health programs like Medicaid. Bresch's best option would have been to simply lower the price and focus less on her personal profits. Mylan would have avoided less outrage and would have kept more of the potential sales that they could have gained from consumers who ignored EpiPen.
