1. Think about some of your friends and family. What have you discovered by visiting their homes in terms of product purchases? Do they buy different things than you do? If so, why do you think so? How might a company distinguish you from them in terms of targeting/segmenting?
2. Direct-to-consumer advertising for pharmaceuticals is a pull strategy designed to get consumers to ask their doctors to prescribe certain medications. What are the pros and cons of this practice? Are there always pros and cons to a pull strategy? What might the pros and cons be for a push strategy involving pharmaceuticals?
3. Explain the unique selling proposition for one of your favorite brands. Be detailed in your explanation.
4. Based upon this chapter, what are three questions you would want to ask in a job interview if you were interviewing for an entry-level marketing position? Explain why each question is important to you after reading this chapter.
5. Go to some type of fast-food oriented restaurant. State the price of a "bundled" meal ("meal deal"), and then calculate the cost of the meal if you were to purchase each item separately. What is the difference? Do you think consumers often purchase a bundled product because of it being a good deal, for convenience, other? Explain.
