Assignment task:
Our first readings presented facts that indicated what might have led to the Mexican Revolution. In his murals Diego Rivera isn't presenting us scenes of the Revolution that he witnessed; he does more than that: he places before us specific moments -or situations- of the Revolution that might reveal something significant (something that perhaps demands further attention).
Guidelines: For this assignment I want you to provide your understanding of the following murals by Rivera; approach and elaborate your understanding by using the information that you already have on the Revolution. Do not employ political theories or Marxist/Socialist approaches because that is not something we are doing in class. Use as a guide my Description and Criticism essay.
Your interpretation can take the form of a story or critical approach. Your comment should consist of at least twenty-five sentences.
The murals by Rivera are Night of the Wealthy, Sunday Dream at Alameda Park, Revolution: Germination. Click on the Muralists to see the murals.
This assignment is worth 5 points, but only if you provide a story or a critical approach and make your comment twenty-five sentences long.
