Problem:
A 6 year-old patient presents to the clinic with the complaint of nasal congestion, facial pain, yellow/greenish nasal drainage, and worsening headache for the past two weeks. The patient's mother reports spiking a high fever for the past two days. The patient reports that the headache pain is increased when bending over and feels like "my brain is falling out". Upon exam you find the nasal mucosa edematous and frontal and maxillary sinus tenderness with palpation. The patient was given over-the-counter allergy medication and Acetaminophen by the parents with little headache relief or fever control.
