Problem
A teacher has to develop a bond with the students. This assures the students believe in the teacher and cooperate with them. A good relationship with students helps in the smoother functioning of the class. While interacting with the class, the teacher should display care and concern for the students. The teacher has to convey their belief in the students' capabilities by motivating them at all times. When there is a bond of mutual trust and care between the students and the teacher, it creates a positive atmosphere in the class suitable for effective teaching and learning. A teacher can use a variety of strategies to build rapport with the students ranging from encouraging words, showing a thumbs up, writing good comments, and supporting them while they attempt a difficult part in learning.
Parents can also provide an in-depth analysis of the behavior pattern of their child. This can be useful for the teacher while preparing a learning plan for the students. Similarly, colleagues are a great resource in understanding the learning styles of the students. A discussion with parents and colleagues can contribute to a robust and comprehensive plan for the betterment of students.
There are two distinct parts in this written assignment, address both parts equally.
• Explain any one strategy that you would adopt or have been adopting in your classroom to build rapport with your students. What makes the strategy a successful one?
• Determine at least two best practices that you would suggest or incorporate in your style of communicating with the parents and your colleagues for the betterment of students.
