Problem: An emergency patient is brought in for urgent surgery. They got into a serious car accident and sufferred significant burn injuries to their lower body. At arrival, they are already in a state of hypotentsion and mild respiratory depression. It is decided to perform general anesthesia to facilitate the surgery. The anestesiologist present calls for a dose of Atropine and Succinylcholine immediately. Then she calls for anesthesia induction with Ketamine followed by maintenance with Nitrous Oxide (NO) and minimal isoflurane. Ultimately the patient survived the procedure and vital signs were stabilised. The patient was prescribed oxymorphone and odansetron post-surgery while they recover.
